A three-generation craft tradition that began in the leather trade grew into shoemaking in 1969. Today, as Sönmez Ayakkabı, we continue with manufacturing, retail and safety footwear.

From leather to footwear

Our story reaches back before 1969, to the Malçok family's leather trade. Knowledge passed from grandfather to grandson is carried today by our third-generation representative, Yener Malçok.

A new chapter began in 1969 with the retail shoe store founded in Ödemiş, Izmir, by Lütfü Malçok and Yener Malçok. Knowing its customers and trading on trust, the family business grew from selling shoes into making them.

From retail to manufacturing

Retail experience was carried into production with the Sönmez Plastik footwear and slipper factory. New premises were acquired in Gaziemir, Izmir, in 1980, and the factory moved there from Ödemiş in 1986. Retail continued in the same building alongside manufacturing and wholesale, preserving our direct relationship with customers for decades.

A new era in safety footwear

Today we offer safety footwear from 7 different brands, serving industry, manufacturing, construction, agriculture and livestock sectors with safe, durable and comfortable products. We sell retail at our store in Bornova Işıkkent, Izmir, and on Trendyol, and quote directly for wholesale and export inquiries.

Values that do not change

The footwear industry, production technology and consumer habits have changed enormously over the years. What has not changed are the values at the heart of how we do business:

From a leather tradition spanning generations to the first store in Ödemiş, from manufacturing to safety footwear, this journey represents three generations of craft culture and more than half a century of commercial experience. We lost our founding partner Lütfü Malçok in 2021 and continue in the spirit of the values he built.
